Ottawa Mandarin School
Ottawa Mandarin School was established in 1989 as a non-profit charitable organization. We provide students from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds with the opportunity to learn the Mandarin language and to experience Chinese culture. OMS sponsors the cultural events held throughout the school year, including Culture Day, the Handwriting Contest, the Chinese New Year Celebration, the Speech Contest, and the Year End / Graduation Celebration. We offer extracurricular cultural activities on Saturdays and during the summer, publish the annual OMS Yearbook, and organize various fundraising and community activities.
Ottawa Mandarin School is a registered charitable organization. Donations can be made through the annual United Way Campaign. Tax receipts will be issued for donations (above $10) made directly to OMS. Business Number/Registered Charity Number: 886475631RR0001.
The Parent Advisory Group (PAG) is made up of members who are elected from among volunteer parents of students enrolled in the Mandarin International Language (IL) Program and community representatives. The PAG provides an advisory role, represents community views, and acts as a liaison between parents and the Ottawa Catholic School Board. They work with the site administrator to plan the calendar of activities and special celebrations, act as resource people for the site administrator, and assist the site administrator as needed.
